Key Player Award

Coble Named Scotland County Schools Key Player for September

Scotland County Schools is pleased to recognize its “Key Player” for September – Mrs. Diane Coble. Coble is the Student Information Management System Data Manager for Scotland High School and was nominated by Gary Shapiro.

The purpose of this award is to honor those who work so diligently for our children but may go unrecognized for the “key” role they play in our schools. This award recognizes teacher assistants and secretaries who demonstrate a positive and successful impact both on the children they work with as well as the entire school and community.

Coble’s dedication has been instrumental in the implementation of the Smaller Learning Communities at Scotland High School. She has been responsible for carrying out new processes for registration, scheduling, grade reporting and attendance gathering. These new processes have turned the SIMS system at SHS from one big job to seven large jobs that must mesh together. Without Coble’s hard work, which in many cases requires early mornings and late nights, many of the basic functions that are taken for granted – from printing student class schedules and report cards to tracking student absences – would not be taking place.

Coble has met the new demands brought on by the high school conversion not only with efficiency but with a consistently sunny demeanor. In the nomination, Shapiro wrote of Coble, “She is one of the most warm, giving people I have ever worked with. She is an inspiration to me, in that, when I feel compelled to complain about the burdens of my job, or the nuances of learning new technologies, I reflect upon what she has cheerfully accomplished. “She remains one of this school’s greatest assets. Recognition for this fine person is long overdue.”
