Success is not a scarce commodity--it is abundantly evident in schools throughout ScotlandCounty every day. The only thing that is "scarce" is open/public recognition of the superb efforts professionals give the many success stories which characterize our schools.
The purpose of the SUMMIT Award is to celebrate success. By doing so we
honor those who might otherwise go unrecognized beyond a very small sphere
and we share successful ideas with others throughout the school system.
The Award recognizes teachers (certificated staff) for innovative/creative practices
which contribute to the success of children. Criteria are broad: we seek
educators who have implemented unusually successful programs or whose innovative
practices hold the promise of substantially improving the education of
the children they teach.
All nominations should share two common attributes:
Nominations may be made by any certificated staff member. Nominations must be received by noon the last Friday each month for consideration that month. Nominations may be submitted more than once, but only nominations received during a specific month will be considered that month.
Selection of winner will be made by a committee of retired educators.
Recognition of winners will be made at a faculty meeting at the home school
and at the regular meeting of the Board of Education. The award is a crystal
apple presented on an engraved walnut stand. Appropriate media coverage
will be given.
All nominations should reflect the following:
