Annual Leave State of NC and SCS All permanent full time employees (permanent part time employees earn leave at 50% of the full time accrual rate) AL is accrued each month as follows:

Sick Leave State of NC and SCS All permanent full time employees (permanent part time employees earn leave at 50% of the full time accrual rate) SL is accrued each month as follows:

1 day per month
Personal Leave State of NC and SCS All permanent full time teachers PL is accrued each month as follows: 0.20 days per month with a maximum of 5 days.There will be a sub deduction of $50 for each PL day used.

Extended Sick Leave Employee, State of NC and SCS All permanent full time and permanent part time teachers who have worked at least 1 day of the school year. ESL is granted in increments of 20 days per school year.There will be a sub deduction of $50 for each ESL day used.
Voluntary Shared Leave State of NC and SCS All permanent employees VSL must be requested by completing an application and must be approved by the Associate Superintendent of HR Management. Days will be donated to the applicant by fellow employees if approved.
Family Medical Leave Act Employee, State of NC and SCS As described by law FMLA permits up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave for reasons as described by law. Employee may use accrued leave for compensation during some or all of the 12 weeks. Other rules and regulations apply.
Educational Leave State of NC and SCS All permanent employees Employee shall retain full salary during the attendance of any In-Service School projects, State Sponsored Staff Development activities and NC Center for Advancement of Teaching seminars.
Professional Leave State of NC and SCS All permanent employees Permanent certified employees will be granted leave to attend meetings due to professional responsibility. Leave may or may not be subject to a sub deduction of $50. See the benefits representative or Human Resources Dept. for further information.
Longevity Pay State of NC and SCS All permanent employees with at least 10 years of qualifying State of NC service

Longevity payment are made no later than the month following the monthly pay period in which the employee satisfies all eligibility requirements. Longevity pay is based on a percentage of the employees annual salary and years of service as follows:
10 but less than 15 years: 1.50%
20 but less than 25 years: 3.25%
25 or more years: 4.50%

Dental Coverage  
   Permanent full time employees Ameritas-Preventive services are paid at 100% of the UCR charges, maintenance services are paid at 80% of the UCR charges and oral surgery or other major services are paid at 50% of the UCR charges. A $25 deductible per member and $75 deductible per family applies per calendar year.

Pre-Taxed/Payroll Deducted Premiums Employee Permanent full time employees All premiums are payroll deducted and are done on a pre-taxed basis as mandated by the IRS.
State Retirement System Employee, State of NC and SCS All permanent employees 6% of the employees monthly salary is deducted for participation in the State Retirement System. The State currently makes a contribution equal to 6.82% of the employees salary to their Retirement account. Employees are 100% vested after 5 years.

401(k) Employee All permanent full time employees NC 401(k) through Prudential-employees may contribute a minimum of $20 per month and a maximum of $12,000 per year.

Short Term Disability State of NC and SCS All permanent full time employees with at least 1 year of state service. 50% of the employees monthly salary is paid after a 60 day waiting period.
Long Term Disability State Retirement System All permanent full time employees with at least 5 years of state service. 65% of the employees monthly salary is paid after completion of 12 months short term disability.
Death Benefit State Retirement System All permanent employees with at least 1 year of state service. A lump sum payment is made to the beneficiary designated by the employee in an amount equal to the annual salary of the employee with a minimum of $25,000 and a maximum of $50,000.
