Federal Consumer Protection Agencies

Food and Drug Administration
The FDA sets and maintains purity and safety standards for foods, drugs (human and veterinary), biological products, medical devices and cosmetics; researches the contents of new health and drug products; inspects food (except meat and poultry) and health aide plants; ensures accurate labeling; makes sure electronic products that emit radiation are safe; and removes unsafe products from the market.
