Spring Hill's Child and Family Support Team consists of Paula Troutman, school nurse, and Lorena Fehlman, school social worker. The Support Team identifies and coordinates appropriate community services. The guiding principle of the Child & Family Initiative is One Child, One Team, and One Plan. The Support Team serves as the liaison between the home, school and community providing direct as well as indirect services to students, families and school personnel to promote and support students' academic and social success. The services are individualized, strength-based and family-centered.
Our Child and Family Support Team identifies and screens students who are potentially at risk of academic failure or out-of-home placement due to physical, social, legal, emotional or developmental factors. They also focus on barriers to student success including: family issues, health issues, social issues, grief, mental health issues, stress, substance abuse, trauma, and violence.
Spring Hill's Child and Family Support Team works with administrators, counselors, community agencies, family members, school psychologists, teachers and the mental health coordinator.
