The Academy Band (formerly known as the 9th Grade Band) brings together students new to high school to acclimate them into the band program. In the Academy Band, players enforce basic musical knowledge and skills while preparing for a number of concert performances. Players are introduced to new musical concepts and learn how to play as a member of a large ensemble with a "symphonic" sound. The Academy Band is challenged with Grade IV music and solo music. The Academy most recently received a Superior Rating at the 2006 District Festival.
