Dubbed "The Pride of Scotland County," the Scotland High School Marching Band is one of the most recognized marching bands in North Carolina, largely due to its tradition of excellence and the band's traditional Scottish uniform, complete with kilt and plaid. The uniforms have been in use since 1956 and continue to be a source of identity and pride to their wearers. The Fighting Scots Marching Band performs throughout the fall football season, both at home and at away football games on Friday nights, as well as at marching band competitions on Saturdays. The marching band competes at several competitions each season and consistently scores high marks in both visual design and music. The marching band traditionally has a two-week "band camp" at the beginning of August and then rehearses three times a week throughout the season. The marching band also gets called upon to perform in several parades and community events throughout the year, including the Wagram Parade and the Laurinburg Christmas Parade. The band has also had notable performances at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City and the Tangerine Bowl in Orlando. The Fighting Scots Marching Band is the most seen and most traveled organization at Scotland High School and takes very seriously its role as an emissary of Scotland High School and Scotland County.
