Scotland County School System employs nurses, social workers, school counselors, a regular education homebound teacher and attendance liaisons to help your child with any medical, social, mental or environmental need that impacts their ability to learn. Our staff is comprised of dedicated and trained professionals that will help your child with their problems and concerns.
The school system is one of twenty-one North Carolina public school districts to be awarded seven nurse and social work Child & Family Support Teams from the N.C. General Assembly. These teams coordinate community services for families of children at risk for academic failure and out of home placement. The teams serve as a liaison between home, school and community agencies. Services are individualized, strength-based and family centered.
The teams assist families with identifying barriers to their child’s academic success. Barriers could be related to family issues, health issues, social issues, grief, mental health issues, substance abuse, trauma or violence. Our teams are located at the following schools: Carver Middle, I.Ellis Johnson Elementary, Laurel Hill Elementary, North Laurinburg Elementary, Spring Hill Middle, Sycamore Lane Middle and Wagram Primary School.
Please contact the Child & Family Support Team if your child is struggling in school and attends one of the schools listed above.
