Testing and Accountability provides for the scheduling, training, implementation, monitoring, data analysis and reporting of state testing administrations. Such testing includes End-of-
Grade, End-of-Course, Computer Skills, Writing Assessment, Grade 3 Pre-testing, High School Competency and Field Testing. There is a closeworking relationship with the Exception Children’s Department to provide proper accommodations and alternate assessments for the state tests. A key factor for Testing and Accountability is SERVICE to students and schools.
English as a Second Language provides services to students and schools through student identification following state and federal guidelines, through instruction and through accommodations with state academic testing. Great attention is given to meeting the needs of students and their parents. The goal is for the student to eventually function independently in the regular instructional program of the Scotland County Schools.
The department’s role in Arts Education is that of facilitator. Coordination of various student art shows including periodic displays of student art and the Annual Student Art Show and Reception at the A.B. Gibson Education Center provide for the enjoyment of student work and serve as a source of pride to welcome visitors to the building. Visual Arts and Choral/General Music Teachers have opportunities to meet and discuss elements common to their specific subject areas.
